David Privett, Acting Executive Director, WNY Children's Psychiatric Center to the staff of the WNYCPC:

I am pleased to share with you that WNYCPC has been identified by TJC as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for 2014. This is our third consecutive year earning this designation. Further, we are one of 24 hospitals in NYS, out of a total of 159 that submitted data to TJC, who have received this designation. We are joined in this honor by 5 other OMH psychiatric centers: CNYPC, NYPI, South Beach, Mohawk Valley, and Pilgrim.

So, what is the significance of this designation? This means that we have sustained a high degree of compliance across a number of measures through each quarter of 2014. These measures reflect aspects of care and treatment that support patient safety and include conducting certain assessments at admission and communicating various information to aftercare providers at discharge. Further, we assess for trauma, identify patient strengths, and rarely use multiple antipsychotics. TJC notes, “This achievement demonstrates your hospital’s commitment to assuring that evidence-based interventions are delivered in the right way and at the right time- because that is the right thing to do for your patients.”

I want to thank our Medical Staff, clinical staff, and HIMS department for their work in providing, documenting, and monitoring the care and treatment that is reflected in these measures. Keep up the good work.
